Nickelodeon inks Russian deal

Terrestrial network TNT nabs 250 hours of shows

SpongeBob SquarePants, Jimmy Neutron and a host of other Nickelodeon kids’ cartoon characters are to screen on Russia’s terrestrial TV network TNT in a new deal for 250 hours of animated and live-action programming.

Other titles includes “As Told By Ginger,” “Hey Arnold” and “My Life as a Teenage Robot,” and for the first time live-action series “iCarly,” “Big Time Rush” and “The Troop.”

Content will be localized for Russian audiences and will be included as a part of an existing Nickelodeon branded block on TNT, which reaches more than 100 million households or 80% of all Russian TV households.

There are also licensing deals for products owned by Viacom Intl. Media Networks, which runs Nickelodeon, based on SpongeBob, including toys, personal care products, clothing, sports items and stationery.
