Exec expands role in communications, corporate strategy

News Corp. said Tuesday that Henderson will continue to play a key role in communications and public affairs activities, while adding new responsibility for “driving greater value from the company’s vast portfolio of businesses.” The announcement said she will collaborate closely with key business unit leaders to expand the marketing influence of brands, maximize larger strategic content and distribution opportunities and enhance the value of key franchises through emerging digital platforms. “It is critical that News Corp. exploits our unique marketing power and content leadership across existing and emerging channels,” said Chase Carey, News Corp.’s deputy chairman, president and chief operating officer. “Each of our businesses is a leader in its own right, yet can be so much stronger if we can build on each unit’s complementary strengths. Julie brings a unique understanding of both existing and new opportunities for our brands and has the personal traits to navigate cross-unit complexities as an ally to our senior executives.” Henderson will report to Carey in her corporate strategy capacity. For her communications role, she’ll continue to report to Teri Everett, senior VP of corporate affairs and communications.
