NBC reunites Bochco, Milch

'NYPD Blue' duo to develop lawyer drama

Steven Bochco and David Milch have reunited for the first time since their “NYPD Blue” days to develop a drama for NBC about a rainmaker lawyer in Washington, D.C. who carries a dark secret.

Project hails from Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV. Brian Grazer had the initial idea for the show and reached out to Bochco and Milch, who will pen the story together and exec produce with Grazer and Imagine TV topper Francie Calfo.

NBC has given the untitled drama a script order with a significant penalty.

NBC also gave 20th TV a put pilot order on Thursday for a half-hour comedy penned by “Glee” co-creator Ryan Murphy and “Glee” co-exec producer Allison Adler. Logline is being kept under wraps.

Murphy will exec produce with Adler and fellow “Glee” e.p. Dante Di Loreto. Project garnered the highest penalty of any NBC pilot in development this season. One reason Murphy selected the Peacock was his longtime relationship with Jennifer Salke, whom he worked with at 20th and is now entertainment president at the network.

Murphy is on a hot streak, following his success with “Glee” with the strong start this month for FX’s “American Horror Story” on FX.

Milch’s latest HBO skein, horse-racing drama “Luck,” is set to bow early next year. Bochco is also developing dramas for ABC, TNT and Showtime.
