NBC has bought a drama script from “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” consulting producer Judith McCreary via Universal Television.
A character-driven show with procedural elements, the untitled drama is loosely based on the life of a survivor of a traumatic brain injury and his attempts to cope with the debilitating injury while solving crimes. The lead character is a fictionalized version of Tony Ciaglia, who tells his story with author Pete Earley in “The Serial Killer Whisperer: How One Man’s Tragedy Helped Unlock the Deadliest Secrets of the World’s Most Terrifying Killers.” The book will be published in January by Touchstone, a division of Simon & Schuster. A co-EP on “SVU” for the past eight years, McCreary has also worked on “CSI” and “Criminal Minds.” McCreary is repped by ICM, lawyer Phil Klein and manager Darryl Taja.NBC buys script from ‘Law & Order’ producer
