SPT inks scripted format deal

Sony Pictures Television has inked its first scripted format production deal in Brazil.

A three-year co-production pact with No. 4 web Band TV will kick off with a local version of SPT’s hit sitcom, “The Nanny.”

As part of the agreement, SPT and Band TV will produce two other primetime sitcoms based on SPT’s scripted format catalog or original productions. Both will share distribution of the skein worldwide.

All three sitcoms will be produced by Sao Paulo-based Floresta, a joint venture between SPT and production exec Elisabetta Zenatti.

Floresta produces the Brazilian version of “The Dr. Oz Show” for SPT.

Consisting of 180 episodes, the Brazilian “Nanny” will be stripped Monday through Friday on Band TV next year.

Local versions of “The Nanny” have been produced in nine countries including Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico and Russia.
