MTV has greenlit a fourth season of “Jersey Shore” and announced that production will begin this spring in Italy.
“Jersey Shore” is TV’s No. 1 series at 10 p.m. Thursdays and is MTV’s top-ranked series of all time in the 12-34 demo; its most recent airing stands as the cabler’s most-watched series broadcast ever, drawing 8.9 million overall viewers.
The skein is averaging an 8.3 rating in the demo in its third season, up 46% over season two.
Season four is scheduled to begin airing later this year.
“While the Stateside ‘Jersey Shore’ locales have become iconic for our audience, it’s really the constantly evolving dynamic amongst the cast that keeps them coming back each season, and Europe is a fresh spin on a show that continues to reach new heights for us,” MTV programming veep and production head Chris Linn said. “The cast is headed to the birthplace of the culture they love and live by. We can’t wait to see what erupts as a result.”
Sally Ann Salsano of 495 Prods. exec produces “Jersey Shore,” which was created by Anthony Beltempo.
