Moonscoop sells ‘Sam Sam’

Oz's ABC, Turner Broadcasting in Spain buy skein

BIARRITZ — Moonscoop has closed a raft of deals on the pre-school toon series “Sam Sam.”

The first two seasons of “Sam Sam” have been picked up by Australia’s ABC and Turner Broadcasting in Spain for its Boomerang and Boing channels. The U.K.’s ITV has napped the second season.

Deals were announced at TV France Intl.’s Rendez-Vous mart in Biarritz.

The CGI 3D skein, which has sold to more than 55 territories and won TVFI’s export prize in 2009, was recently acquired by Italy’s RAI and Turner Broadcasting Italy.

Preschool is a challenging market but good entertainment for this demographic is proven through its international success,” said Lionel Marty, international sales prexy at Moonscoop.

Based on a comic-book series, “Sam Sam” is produced by Bayard Jeunesse Animation with Araneo, Tiji, Gulli and France 5.
