Tome is the 10th in the series of popular “Prey” books by author John Sandford. Production is set to begin in May when Harmon, star of CBS’ hugely popular procedural “NCIS,” is on hiatus.
In the movie, to be titled “Prey,” Harmon will play the book’s antihero, Minneapolis deputy police chief Lucas Davenport, who is facing off against a hit woman and a killer determined to gun him down.
Chris Gerolmo adapted the script and Harmon will exec produce with Michael Jaffe and Howard Braunstein.
“Mark Harmon could read the phone book and we’d probably want to put it on the air,” said Jeff Wachtel, USA Network’s original programming topper.
Harmon isn’t a stranger to USA Network. The cabler airs “NCIS” weeknights as an offnet acquisition.
