Telepic set for Hallmark Movie Channel

Wendie Malick is set to star and exec produce original telepic “Wild Horse Annie” for Hallmark Movie Channel.

Pic, skedded for a summer 2012 release, is adapted from a portion of author Deanne Stillman’s tome “Mustang: The Saga of the Wild Horse in the American West” and examines the life of animal-rights activist Velma Johnston, who helped save the lives of hundreds of equines.

Jerry Wingfield will write the script while Stillman will produce.

Said Malick, currently co-starring in TV Land hit “Hot in Cleveland”: “Despite physical and emotional challenges, Johnston committed her life to getting federal protection for our wild horses and burros, saving them from cruel roundups and barbaric slaughter.”
