Some first dates are so bizarre you just have to laugh. That’s what drove industryites Stacey Levin and Robin Mesger to put pen to paper for their “I Don’t Want to Die Alone! True Stories of Online Dating.”
The tome, just released by Outskirts Press, chronicles their midadventures in electronic matchmaking while juggling demanding careers in showbiz. (Levin is director of development for Universal Cable Prods; Mesger was formerly senior veep at Lippin Group.) They also draw from the experiences of friends — male and female, gay and straight — who have encountered all manner of quirks, fetishes and freaks. Among the highlights is the tale of the date derailed after the guy realizes the girl can’t leave her condo because she’s on house arrest, enforced by an electronic ankle bracelet.
