Legendary opens TV division at Warner Bros.

Legendary Pictures is going small screen.

Production shingle that has had a longtime co-financing deal with Warners Bros. is launching Legendary Television at the studio as well. Like its theatrical side, Legendary TV will focus on the fanboy market and look for properties that attract an audience similar to what the studio already has in the megahit “The Big Bang Theory.”

Jeremy Elice will move over from his development position at AMC to run the division. Elice has helped shepherded several of the cabler’s dramas, including “Mad Men,” “Breaking Bad” and “Rubicon.

Legendary Pictures has two upcoming films to be distributed by Warners for which the studio has high expectations: Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch” (March 25) and comedy sequel “The Hangover Part II,” due May 26.
