Distribution vet tapped for dual role

Scott Koondel is adding to his duties at CBS Corp.

While he will continue as president of distribution at CBS Television Distribution, he has also been named senior VP, corporate licensing and distribution for the parent company.

In his new role, Koondel will explore distribution options for content from all the brands under CBS Corp., including Showtime and CBS Films.

Koondel will report to Joseph Ianniello, executive VP and CFO of CBS Corp., in addition to reporting to John Nogawski, president of CBS Television Distribution.

“There has been a natural progression toward selling our content to an increasing number of emerging online platforms and services,” said Ianniello. “I look forward to Scott’s contributions as CBS continues to capitalize on this fast-growing marketplace.”

CBS Corp. demonstrated its ability to mine new distribution options via a recent deal with Netflix that found a new home for library TV series including “Cheers” and “Star Trek.”

Koondell has been in various roles on both sides of the Viacom company since he started at Paramount in 1994.
