‘Kitchen Musical’ slated to debut in Asia

Combines drama, dance, song and cooking

BEIJING – Southeast Asian English-language channel AXN is planning to introduce the region’s first ever TV musical, “The Kitchen Musical,” which will combine drama, music, dance and recipes and will bow across Asia in October.

Among the big names signed up for the production of the franchise are Aussie choreographer, Jason Coleman, best known for his work on the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Musical director Gerard Salonga from the Philippines, as well as international make-up artist Massimiliano Della Maggesa will also take part.

Among the thesps taking part are Karylle Tatlonghari and Filipino actor Christian Bautista.

Skein will feature 13 one-hour episodes to be aired during primetime in some 22 Asian markets where AXN is available.

“Featuring some very talented Asians, the show will tap into Asian viewers’ passion for drama, music, dance, and food,” said Ricky Ow, senior veep and GM Networks, Sony Pictures Television.

Principal photography for “The Kitchen Musical” is set to commence Jun. 1 in Singapore.
