‘King’ expands empire

Canuck cop skein sells internationally

BERLIN — German channel Vox and France’s M6 have picked up Canadian cop series “King.”

The skein, which premiered this year on Canadian cable channel Showcase, stars Amy Price-Francis as a veteran police officer who gets promoted to head Toronto’s Major Crimes Task Force after her predecessor has a breakdown on television.

Indian Grove is producing “King” in cooperation with Munich-based Beta Film for Shawmedia/Showcase. Season two is set to begin production this fall.

Beta, which is also handling international sales, also inked deals for the show with pay TV channel Fox in Italy, Net5/SBS in the Netherlands, TV 1 in Australia, French-language cable channel Series Plus in Canada and South Korea’s T Cast.
