Kate Snow joins Brian Williams at NBC

Unnamed show takes shape as '60 Minutes' rival

Brian Williams continues to add notable names to his fledgling NBC newsmag, with Kate Snow officially joining the unnamed program’s ranks from the Peacock’s own “Dateline” just a day after longtime CBSer Harry Smith made the jump.

Both hold the title of correspondent; Smith starts next week, and Snow starts immediately.

Word on the show’s format is that it will be more of a “60 Minutes”-style newsmag and less of a one-true-crime-story-per-show kind of program.

The move puts some strain on “Dateline,” which is already in transition as its host Ann Curry settles into Meredith Vieira’s spot on NBC’s “Today.”

Williams’ show will focus on several stories at once, and much of it will be produced live, differentiating it from “60 Minutes.”
