Valhalla inks deal for 'The Eleventh Commandment'
Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment has signed a development deal with New Franchise Media to adapt Jeffrey Archer novel “The Eleventh Commandment” for television.
One of a group of Archer bestsellers whose rights are held by New Franchise, “Eleventh” is a CIA thriller that will be developed by Hurd, who recently has been exec producing AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”
Jeffrey Archer’s storytelling is compelling, character driven and perfect for television — full of fast-paced, high-stakes danger,” Hurd said.
New Franchise CEO Jeffrey Steiner said the company aims “for event television with that must-see factor.” Archer’s books have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide.
Our company’s business plan is to develop our Archer properties in collaboration with experienced and respected producers, like Gale Anne Hurd,” New Franchise partnership development veep Dianne Schwalm said. “Together with Archer’s worldwide fanbase, this new spy-action series will have great appeal in both domestic and international markets.”
Valhalla is also developing upcoming television series “Port Royal” with GK-TV for FX.
