Howard Stern in talks for ‘Talent’

Could replace Piers Morgan on NBC competition show

Howard Stern is in talks with NBC to take over Piers Morgan’s recently vacated spot on “America’s Got Talent” at a salary of some $15 million. The Wall Street Journal first reported the news.

“Got Talent” may relocate to New York from its current home in Los Angeles if the talkshow host comes to terms with the Peacock and takes the gig. The move would cost an additional $10 million.

Stern would work alongside Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel on the show, which is produced by FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell’s Syco, and distribbed by FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Morgan tweeted on Wednesday that he’d be leaving the program to focus on his CNN show “Piers Morgan Tonight,” where the network is gearing up to cover the 2012 presidential election in greater depth.
