The Bible is coming to History. Mark Burnett has signed on to produce a five-part, 10-hour drama based on scripture, using contemporary computer FX and live action to tell the book’s stories.
”We’ve been working on this project for the past two years and are deeply humbled to be given this once in a generation opportunity to breathe new visual life into The Bible’s profound stories,” said Burnett. ”The Bible gives meaning and purpose to billions of people around the world, and sparks the curiosity of millions more.”
As with any film adaptation of the Bible, Burnett’s will have to pick and choose which threads to follow — History has said that the stories of Noah’s Ark, the Exodus from Egypt and Daniel in the lion’s den will all be included in the miniseries, as will the death and resurrection of Jesus.
”There’s no question The Bible is one of the world’s most significant books,” said History topper Nancy Dubuc. ”This series will bring the historical stories of The Bible to life for a new generation.
