Co-production with MLB to document Yankee's 3,000th hit
“Derek Jeter 3K,” which chronicles the achievements of the New York Yankees shortstop who’s poised to become baseball’s newest 3,000-hit man, has been skedded to air on HBO this summer.
The hourlong special, co-produced by HBO Sports and Major League Baseball Prods. and already in production, takes a behind-the-scenes look at Jeter’s quest, including elements of his personal life. Jeter and the Yankees have cooperated with the production. “It has been a lot of fun working with HBO Sports and MLB Prods. to capture this milestone in a special and unique way,” Jeter said.
HBO plans to air the special a few weeks after Jeter reaches the milestone. Jeter came off Major League Baseball’s disabled list this week with 2,994 career hits, leaving him six away from becoming the 28th big-leaguer to amass 3,000.
“This special will provide sports fans with a fascinating view of what Derek Jeter experiences during this memorable moment in baseball history,” HBO Sports prexy Ross Greenburg said.
