HBO grows ‘Thrones’ cast

Liam Cunningham joins van Houten, Dillane as series regulars

With the next season nearly nine months away, HBO is busy adding to the cast of its buzzworthy fantasy series “Game of Thrones.”

Liam Cunningham has signed on as a series regular, playing Davos Seaworth, an infamous smuggler turned knight for Stannis Baratheon.

Also joining are Carice van Houten and Stephen Dillane. Dillane is best known for playing Thomas Jefferson in the HBO mini-series “John Adams,” and will play Stannis, younger brother of the late king Robert who has ambitions to be the next king. Houten will play Melisandre, a powerful woman who is an adviser to Stannis Baratheon.

“Game of Thrones” has quickly become one of HBO’s more popular shows, with its season finale attracting more than 3 million viewers on May 19 and 13 Emmy nominations for its first season, including best drama.

Cunningham is currently filming “Safe House” for Universal starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds.

He is repped by Management 360 and Sarah Camlett at Independent Talent Group
