Young steps down after two years as prexy

Candy Havens has been elected president of the Television Critics Assn.

Havens has covered TV for 23 years — 17 years with Tribune Media and the past six years with FYI Television as its managing editor. She replaces Susan Young, who is a freelance writer and former TV columnist and critic for the Oakland Tribune.

A resident of Fort Worth, Texas, and member of TCA since 1997, Havens will serve two years as prexy. She was most recently VP of the org.

Others elected to the TCA board are Salt Lake Tribune writer Scott Pierce as VP, TV Guide Canada’s Amber Dowling as secretary and Brian Gianelli of XFinity TV as treasurer.

The current TCA tour is taking place at the BevHilton, with the annual TCA Awards set for Saturday night.
