ABC nabs 'Americana,' CBS rides with 'Heroes'
Two of TV’s most prolific producers, Mark Gordon and Jerry Bruckheimer, have set up drama projects for the 2012-13 season.
ABC has bought “Americana” from Gordon, who signed a four-year deal with Walt Disney Studios back in April for both film and television. Project is an epic family soap set in the world of fashion with Michael Seitzman (“North Country”) on board to write and executive produce.
CBS has given a put pilot order to Bruckheimer TV and Warner Bros. for a project from “Heroes” writer/producer Aron Coleite about a mother who becomes a New York state trooper. Coleite will exec produce with Bruckheimer and his TV topper, Jonathan Littman.
Bruckheimer already has four series parked in CBS primetime between “The Amazing Race” and all three editions of “CSI.”
Mark Gordon Co. already has two series on ABC, “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice,” and “Criminal Minds” on CBS.
