Golf tees up ‘Feherty’

Cabler launches first original series under NBCUniversal banner

For its first original series since becoming part of the NBC Sports Group, Golf Channel has ordered “Feherty,” an interview series with CBS Sports reporter David Feherty.

Given a 12-episode order, the halfhour “Feherty” will premiere June 20, the day after the completion of the U.S. Open.

Golf Channel came under the NBC Sports Group umbrella following the Comcast-NBC Universal merger.

Feherty, who has spent 14 years at CBS, will also serve as a contributing analyst on live events for Golf. A former PGA and European Tour pro, Feherty has gained a reputation for irreverent outspokenness.

“This show is something I’ve always wanted to do, and I’m glad it’s found a home at Golf Channel,” Feherty said. “I’m really overjoyed, so much so that I may have to cheer down, rather than up. I think I’m tri-polar.”

Interviews will not be limited to golf personalities, but will also include those from the worlds of entertainment and politics.
