Exec to be senior VP of scheduling, acquisitions
Scott Garner has been tapped senior VP of scheduling and acquisitions at OWN.
Garner comes to the Oprah Winfrey net from Lifetime, where he was senior VP of planning, scheduling and acquisitions. Previously, he did a long stint at Disney Channel Worldwide, where he eventually become senior VP of programming and was involved with the Mouse House hits “Hannah Montana” and “High School Musical.”
“Scott’s extensive experience at Lifetime and Disney makes him a tremendous addition to OWN,” said chief operating officer John MacDonald. “He is a terrific strategic thinker, and his thoughtful approach to OWN’s overall programming will be invaluable in today’s dynamic media environment.”At Lifetime, Garner helped acquire “How I Met Your Mother” and “The New Adventures of Old Christine.” He was also instrumental in the launch of scripted series “Army Wives,” “Drop Dead Diva” and reality skein “Project Runway,” the latter coming over from Bravo.
