Frank Darabont ‘Walking’ away

Exits as showrunner for AMC zombie drama

Frank Darabont is out as showrunner of AMC’s hit zombie drama “The Walking Dead.”

Sources indicate Darabont, a feature film helmer and multi-Oscar nominee before moving to cable, was unaccustomed to the fast pace of TV production and stepped away.

“The Walking Dead” is currently in production for its second season, which is set to premiere Oct. 16.

There was no word whether Darabont, an exec producer on the show, would remain on the series in some capacity.

It is also too soon to speculate who may take over showrunning duties with Darabont moving on.
