Jesus Perezagua to president, Europe & Asia

Fox Intl. Channels is upping Jesus Perezagua to prexy of FIC Europe and Africa.

Perezagua, credited with spearheading the growth of FIC’s business in Europe, will add 15 TV channels and online businesses in the U.K. and Africa to his oversight and will integrate and build FIC’s businesses in the region.

He will continue to be based in Amsterdam and report to Hernan Lopez, chief exec of FIC and National Geographic Channels Intl.

“Consolidating our operations in Europe and the additional resources allocated to Africa are key to sustaining and invigorating our growth in these regions,” Perezagua said.

Perezagua has been with the company since 2003, when he was appointed managing director of FIC Iberia. Since 2005, he has directed FIC’s expansion across Eastern and Central Europe, Turkey and Greece.

Lopez also upped Jason Thorp to executive VP of content, FIC Europe and Africa. Thorp will relocate from London to Rome, reporting to Perezagua.

He will oversee FIC’s pan-European programming acquisitions, production and strategy, working with programming teams in each of the countries as well as with the global development and acquisitions team in Los Angeles and London.

Thorp joined FIC in 2003 and has been credited with turning the FX channel in the U.K. into one of the most successful and best-positioned entertainment brands in the market.

FIC, owned by News Corp., has some 200 channels across Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa, in 35 languages.
