Fox buys ‘Metropolitan’ script

Liman to produce Tracey-written pilot

Fox has bought a script titled “Metropolitan,” about three sets of detectives working in Washington, D.C.

From Doug Liman’s Hypnotic shingle, show is being produced by Universal Cable Prods. Liman, who has a deal at the studio, also produces UCP’s upcoming half-hour laffer “I Just Want My Pants Back” for MTV.

“Metropolitan” script is from Jason Tracey, who exec produces with Liman and David Bartis. Tracey is a writer and co-exec producer for USA’s “Burn Notice.” Lindsay Sloane is set as producer.

Project reunites Fox with Tracey, who wrote the pilot “Pleading Guilty” for the net; directed by Jon Avnet and starred Jason Isaacs, it never got picked up to series.

Maira Suro, senior VP of development and current programming for UCP, is overseeing “Metropolitan.”

Tracey is repped by CAA and Madhouse Entertainment.
