LONDON — BBC Worldwide Channels has signalled its willingness to create more original content by appointing an exec to the newly created role of vice prexy, commissioning.
She is Tracy Forsyth, who will join Worldwide from British pay TV provider UKTV in January.
Reporting to David Weiland, senior vice prexy, programming and TV channels, Forsyth will oversee the commissioning and co-production of programs for BBC Knowledge, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle, BBC HD and UK.TV, BBC Worldwide’s general entertainment channel in OZ and New Zealand.
Role will involve working with independent producers in the U.K. and internationally, as well as the BBC’s own production departments.
BBC Worldwide Channels’ original commissions are so far modest, with around 20 hours greenlit for the international portfolio this year.
