MBC to launch local 'Idols' series

LONDON — Global distrib FremantleMedia Enterprises has opened an office in Dubai, its first in the Middle East.

It will be run by Middle East VP Anahita Kheder, who will report to Mark Newton, FME’s exec VP of licensing for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Khederwill work alongside Jamie Lynn, senior VP distribution of southern Europe, Middle East and Africa.Dubai is FME’s 12th overseas outpost.

Lynn recently signed a deal with Arab broadcaster MBC Group to launch a local version of the “Idols” format, owned jointly by FremantleMedia and 19TV, later this year.
