Edelstein decides to leave ‘House’

Actress opts not to renew contract for eighth season

Lisa Edelstein has left “House.”

Actress, whose contract was expired, has opted not to sign up for the Fox drama that is about to enter its eighth season. She played Dr. Lisa Cuddy, who was the supervisor to Dr. Gregory House, played by Hugh Laurie.

Said the actress: “After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead.”

The network and Universal Media Studios recently wrapped negotiations that allowed for the show to continue. The other actors, including Laurie, are expected to be back at work when the show starts filming this summer.
