Exec becomes programming veep and g.m.

Disney XD Worldwide has promoted David Levine to the position of vice president of programming and general manager.

Levine will oversee Disney XD on all its platforms, with the goal of fostering growth and taking advantage of all the brands under the Disney Channels Worldwide umbrella.

“David brings dedication and a wealth of experience to this newly created position, and I am confident he will increase our strength by serving as Disney XD’s brand champion,” said Disney Channels Worldwide prexy Carolina Lightcap, to whom Levine will report in his g.m. role.

As programming veep, Levine will report to Disney Channels Worldwide senior veep of programming strategy Paul DeBenedittis. Levine will shepherd Disney XD’s programming, planning, acquisitions and co-production opportunities.

Joining Disney in 2004, Levine most recently served as VP of worldwide programming strategy, acquisitions and co-productions for Disney Channels Worldwide. Among other achievements, Levine created the business model and led negotiations for Disney Channel’s global television movie co-productions, such as “Harriet the Spy” and “16 Wishes.”

Previously, Levine served as business affairs and development veep at Ragdoll USA, as well as general counsel to the Itsy Bitsy Entertainment Company, where he supervised the legal group supporting the Teletubbies franchise in North America and South America.
