Pre-school toons to play on Disney Channel in U.S.

U.K. family content specialist Chorion has sold two preschool toons to the U.S. Disney Channel.

“Octonauts” and “Gaspard and Lisa” will bow on Disney Junior in the U.S. next year.

Since launching on the BBC’s CBeebies net in October, CGI ocean tale “Octonauts” has gained traction in the U.K., where a second season has been ordered, and overseas.

TF1 France, ABC Australia, RTE Ireland, Discovery Kids Latin America, MNet South Africa, Yoopa Canada, RTP Portugal, Disney Japan and Truevision Thailand have all acquired the show.

“Gaspard and Lisa,” which celebrates friendship, debuted last fall on France’s TF1. Toon is based on books penned and illustrated by Anne Gutman and Georg Hallensleben that have been translated into 15 languages.
