'Tangled' alum to voice lead for 'Oki's Oasis'
Mandy Moore will voice the lead character in Disney Junior animated series “Oki’s Oasis,” which has gone into production with a 2013 premiere targeted.
“Oki’s” will join the Disney Junior lineup a year after the programming block spins off from Disney Channel to become its own separate cable channel, replacing SoapNet.
Moore (“Tangled”) will play a cat who is the sheriff of the friendliest town in the west. Each ep will feature two 11-minute stories and two original songs.
“?’Oki’s Oasis’ uses the legend of the Old West to impart social skills and lessons for young kids about being a good friend and neighbor, reinforcing what parents are already teaching their children at home about forgiveness, honesty and sharing,” Disney Junior Worldwide senior veep of original programming and g.m. Nancy Kanter said.
Exec producer Denis Morella created “Oki’s” with co-exec producer George Evelyn. Holly Huckins helped develop the show and is also exec producing. Wildbrain Entertainment is producing.
