Disney Channel acquires ‘Vampire’

'Babysitter' franchise to premiere in June

Disney Channel has acquired comedy-horror telepic “My Babysitter’s a Vampire” and the 13-episode series of the same name.

Produced by FreshTV and distributed by FremantleMedia Enterprises, the film premiered in Canada last fall, while the series launched there in February. Vanessa Morgan plays the title character, assigned to look after kids played by Matthew Knight, Ella Jonas Farlinger and Atticus Mitchell.

Disney Channel will debut the movie June 10, with the series following June 27 and airing Mondays.

Tom McGillis, Jennifer Pertsch, Brian Irving and George Elliott of FreshTV are exec producers with FME’s Sander Schwartz and Bob Higgins. Tim Burns wrote the film screenplay.
