Forensics show back for sixth season
Discovery Fit & Health has greenlit a new six-episode season of forensics show “Dr. G: Medical Examiner,” one of the most popular skeins on the net’s defunct predecessor, Discovery Health (now OWN). The show’s sixth season is slated to premiere this fall.
“Dr. G” follows Dr. Jan Garavaglia of the District 9 Medical Examiner’s Office in Dade County, Fla. On the program, Garavaglia decodes puzzling circumstances to determine cause of death — one seg explores the case of an elderly woman who died four days after a car accident that appeared to have left her unscathed; another tracks Garavaglia’s investigation of a bloody corpse found lying in a field, clutching a syringe. Atlas Media produces, with Bruce David Klein exec producing for Atlas and Lynn Sadofsky exec producing for Discovery Fit & Health.
Cabler, formerly FitTV, launched in February and has rebroadcast episodes of “Dr. G” (the last premieres hit the airwaves in Q4 of 2010) but the upcoming sixth season will be the first produced for the rebranded net. Show is the biggest greenlight so far for Fit & Health.
