CW preps ‘Musical Chairs’

Gurin reality entry goes to 'Extreme'

The CW is developing unscripted format “Extreme Musical Chairs” from the Gurin Co. and 405 Prods.

Series would transform the popular children’s game into a physically demanding competition with multiple rounds of elimination set in an indoor obstacle course.

Format was created by Phil Gurin, Richard Joel and Deena Dill.

CW’s interest in the project is a sign of the network’s efforts to broaden the appeal of its programming. Past unscripted skeins on the net have been carefully tailored to young femmes with an emphasis on fashion and celebs.

Gurin is a reality vet whose most recent productions include ABC’s “Shark Tank” and CMT’s “The Singing Bee.”
