Cinemax gets hands dirty with ‘Sandbox’

War drama in development at cabler

Cinemax is playing in the “Sandbox.”

Hourlong action drama, in development at the HBO-owned pay cabler, centers on Iraq and Afghanistan war vets who return to a hometown overrun by criminals. They use their combat skills to clean up the town.

Show was written by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore, who exec produce with Steve Kronish, Larry Gordon and Chuck Gordon.

Cinemax, which is ramping up its original series, currently has “Strike Back” airing at 10 p.m. on Fridays and is looking to expand to a handful of series in the near future.

Fabrizio, Passmore and Kronish are repped by Paradigm. Passmore and Fabrizio are also repped by Aperture.
