CBS has ordered a pilot of unscripted quizshow “Secret Fortune,” from “American Idol” exec producer Nigel Lythgoe’s Big Red 2 Entertainment and Wild Rover Prods.
The format has pairs of competing contestants answering questions related to varying amounts of money contained in 24 envelopes.
Lythgoe will exec produce with Wild Rover’s Phil Morrow.
International distributor DRG has peddled the “Fortune” format to a number of European territories beginning last month in the U.K. on BBC1.
Northern Ireland-based Wild Rover is also producer of format “Take the Money and Run,” which bows on ABC this summer.
ICM represents Big Red 2.
In other CBS news, rookie sitcom “Mike & Molly” is getting a trial run on April 11 in the Monday 9 p.m. timeslot currently inhabited by another Chuck Lorre-produced comedy, “Two and a Half Men.”
With the future of “Men” looking cloudy, CBS could be experimenting with shifts in its Monday schedule.
