'CSI' maven developing femme procedural with 'Good Wife' scribe

Exclusive: “CSI” executive producer Carol Mendelsohn has set up a femme-led procedural at CBS to be penned by “Good Wife” scribe Ted Humphrey.

“Two Badges” is about a female former gang member who becomes a police detective. Project is based on “Two Badges: The Lives of Mona Ruiz,” a 1997 autobiography from Ruiz, who patrolled the same streets in Santa Ana, where she used to cause trouble.

Mendelsohn will exec produce through her CBS Television Studios-based Carol Mendelsohn Prods. banner, with Humphrey also exec producing.

Since launching her owns shingle last year, Mendelsohn has fielded the CBS drama “The Defenders.” Humphrey, a co-exec producer on “The Good Wife,” has also worked on CBS dramas “The Unit” and “Shark.”

On the comedy side, CBS TV Studios has set up a multicam comedy “Malled” at the Eye. Series centers on a career journalist who after getting laid off takes a retail job in a clothing store at the mall.

Bill Kunstler (“Accidentally on Purpose”) will write and executive produce with Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum through their shingle Tannenbaum Co.

Mendelsohn and Humphrey are repped by WME.
