Canal Plus lands ‘Terra Nova’

Steven Spielberg prehistoric drama to air next year

Gallic cabler Canal Plus has added exec producer Steven Spielberg’s buzzed-about sci-fi series “Terra Nova” to its 2012 lineup.

The 20th Century Fox Television show centers on a family, living in the future, who travel back to prehistoric times to save the Earth from destruction.

“The imaginary world, the decors and special effects, which are on the edge of innovation, make this new science fiction series one of the most ambitious of its generation,” Canal Plus said in a release.

Created by Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel, the vfx-packed skein stars Jason O’Mara, Stephen Lang and Shelley Conn. Show will bow on Fox in the fall and will debut on Canal Plus next year.

Other English-language TV shows on Canal Plus’ 2012 slate include Showtime’s dramedy “The Big C,” ABC fantasy skein “No Ordinary Family” and Starz costume drama “Camelot.”
