Cablevision will offer HBO Go, the cable operator announced Monday, making it the last major MSO to sign on for the premium service’s digital platform.
Announcement comes days after HBO secured a deal to bring another MSO on board, Time Warner Cable. Both cable operators have been negotiating with HBO for much of the year, signing on many months after other MSOs like Comcast and DirecTV came on board.
The Cablevision deal effectively brings HBO Go to 98% of the premium service’s subscribers.
The exact launch date has not been determined, with Cablevision indicating only that the platform will be activated “in the next few months.”
HBO Go has generated 5 million downloads of its app, which is available for devices that use either iOs or Android systems, and 98 million streams.
