Nigel Lythgoe has tapped Kary McHoul as president of his Big Red 2 Entertainment shingle.
McHoul, who arrives at Big Red 2 after running her own corporate consultant company, will develop, pitch and executive produce, as well as mine distribution partners and offer distribution strategies for both domestic and foreign markets.
“McHoul is one of the best in the business at pitching and developing new shows. She has unparalleled knowledge of international markets and productions,” Lythgoe said.
The appointment comes just as Big Red 2 has inked a deal to develop an American version of the popular U.K. gameshow “Secret Fortune.” Show will feature contestants choosing from 24 sealed envelopes, each of which contains a check for amounts that vary widely — from $1 to a life-changing fortune. Eventually, 23 of the envelopes will be destroyed as contestants answer multiple choice questions.
Lythgoe is exec producing with Phil Morrow.
Previously, McHoul was co-head of the alternative department at UTA and senior VP of specials, alternative and latenight programming at Fox.
