BBC Worldwide Prods. has tapped three high-profile writers — David Goyer (“Batman Begins”), Paul Scheuring (“Prison Break”) and Russell T. Davies (“Torchwood: Miracle Day”) — for a trio of series in development.
Goyer is writing “Da Vinci’s Demons” for Starz, the network that will launch the BBC Worldwide Prods. U.S.-based version of “Torchwood” on Friday. “Demons” will look at the early life of Leonardo da Vinci. Goyer’s past TV credits include co-creating “FlashForward” for ABC. Scheuring has “Bellevue,” which explores the frontiers of science at a New York hospital in the 1860s, in development with FX. Davies has written the pilot script for “Cucumber,” a potential Showtime drama centered on gay males. A decade ago, Davies created “Queer as Folk” in the U.K. before the format was adapted into an American version for Showtime. Davies has an overall deal with BBC Worldwide Prods. Julie Gardner, the shingle’s senior VP of scripted, is exec producing “Cucumber.”BBC Worldwide Prods. eyes new shows
