LONDON — BBC Worldwide is increasing its Asian footprint by launching branded channels.
The news will be announced by Jana Bennett, prexy of BBC Worldwide Networks and global BBC iPlayer, at the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Assn. of Asia gabfest in Hong Kong on Tuesday.
BBC Worldwide will bow BBC Knowledge, BBC Entertainment, BBC Lifestyle and CBeebies in Thailand in January.
In Taiwan, BBC Worldwide Channels has pacted with Chung Hwa Telecom to launch BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle and BBC Entertainment on IPTV platform MOD.
In Indonesia, BBC Lifestyle joins BBC Knowledge and CBeebies on NexMedia.
The Corp.’s commercial arm is also bowing a Lonely Planet-branded block of shows on BBC Knowledge across Asia beginning Tuesday.
Beefing up the schedules is the U.K. version of series “Top Gear,” which will air on BBC Knowledge across Asia within two weeks of its British broadcast in 2012.
