DR's 'Government' toplines Sidse Babett Knudsen
LONDON — The BBC has nabbed another drama from Danish pubcaster DR, the web behind much praised crime skein “The Killing.”
At the center of the skein is political leader Birgitte Nyborg, played by Sidse Babett Knudsen, who wins a surprise election victory, but finds out the hard way that power involves comprise and takes a high toll on your personal life.
BBC4 controller Richard Klein said: “‘Borgen’ is dramatic and entertaining, very much in the mould of ‘The Killing,’ and fits BBC4’s brief to bring the best international television to the audience.”
Babett Knudsen won the Golden Nymph for outstanding actress in a drama series at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival on Friday.
The show previously won a Prix Italia for best series and two Fipa Awards in France for best series and best soundtrack.
Helmers on “Borgen” are Soren Kragh-Jacobsen, Rumle Hammerich, Annette K. Olesen and Mikkel Norgaard.
The producer is Camilla Hammerich. “Borgen” was written by Adam Price, Tobias Lindholm and Jeppe Gjervig Gram.
