ABC to debut Bruckhemier-van Munster ‘Money’

Unscripted series pits teams in cat-and-mouse competition

ABC will launch unscripted series “Take the Money and Run,” exec produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and Bertram van Munster, on April 14.

Somewhat akin to van Munster’s CBS reality hit “The Amazing Race,” the series — greenlit last spring with the title “Catch Me” — features a competition between two-person teams in a citywide cat-and-mouse game, with a grand prize of $100,000 awaiting the champion. One twist is that common folk will try to outwit real-life law enforcement pros.

Elise Doganieri (“Amazing Race”), Jonathan Littman (“Chase”) and Philip Morrow are also exec producing “Take the Money and Run,” which has a six-episode order and will succeed “Wipeout” in the 8 p.m. Thursday timeslot. That hour got off to a troublesome start for ABC in the 2010-11 TV season with the early cancelation of “My Generation.”

Profiles Television is producing with Jerry Bruckheimer Television. Horizon Alternative Television is the distributor.
