Relativity promotes exec trio

Straky named exec VP of H.R.; Kopperud is senior VP of ops

Relativity Media continues to expand its exec roster, naming Kay Straky exec VP of human resources, Andrew Kopperud senior VP of operations and Rob Springer senior VP of technology.

Straky, who will report directly to Relativity COO Brian Edwards, will be reponsible for developing and implementingstrategic HR programs and policies to support Relativity’s growth targets. Exec joins Relativity from Universal, where she most recently served as senior VP of human resources. She joined MCA in 1995 and served as a director of employment counsel before she was promoted to VP of human resources for Universal Music Group in 1997.

Kopperud, who will also report to Edwards, will be responsible for studio operations in all office locations including facilities and administration. Prior to joining Relativity, Kopperud was COO at Imagi Studios where he directed U.S. studio operations from 2007-2010. Before joining Imagi, Kopperud held senior-level positions in production, operations and finance at Ruby Red, DreamWorks Animation, and BET.

Springer will report to Relativity prexy Steve Bertram in his new role, where he is responsible for all corporate and business technology including the management of digital entertainment assets and the creation of a content delivery network to service all distribution channels.

Springer joined Relativity last year from Overture Films, where he had served as Senior VP of sales operations since 2007.

Before assuming Relativity’s technology post, he was responsible for implementing and running the theatrical distribution operating systems, including box office research, reporting and analysis. Before joining Overture, Springer held executive positions at Paramount and Rentrak Intl.
