Will add CEO to title in August
Bloomberg LP has upped Daniel L. Doctoroff from prexy to prexy and CEO, where he will continue to report to Bloomberg chairman Peter T. Grauer. The move puts the responsibilities for Bloomberg LP’s day-to-day operations on Doctoroff’s shoulders — the company’s assets include cable network Bloomberg News. The promotion is effective Aug. 1.
The company also is promoting Thomas F. Secunda to vice chairman of Bloomberg proper from manager of the company’s largest unit, Financial Products.
It’s a big step for the company: Bloomberg has not had a CEO since 2008. Doctoroff, formerly deputy mayor of New York City under Michael Bloomberg, oversaw economic development and rebuilding for the city.
“One of the critical elements of Bloomberg’s remarkable growth over the past 30 years has been our capacity to evolve to meet changing internal and external needs and opportunities,” Grauer said. “Dan is perfectly suited to manage our increasingly diversified business model.”
