Simon sez it’s gonna be epic

'X Factor' celebrates new season

As if the anticipation to get the first full-length look at Fox’s “The X Factor” wasn’t great enough, fans who came out for the Sept. 14 series premiere at the Arclight Cinerama Dome had to endure a 90-minute delay.

But all was forgiven when “Factor” judge and executive producer Simon Cowell finally took the stage. He explained that editing on the first two episodes, which air Sept. 21 and 22, went right down to the wire. They didn’t even have time to insert subtitles for Paula Abdul, he joked, who took the good-natured ribbing in stride.

It was worth the wait for Fox’s Mike Darnell. “This was a two-year journey to get here. Simon said it was going to be epic. Boy, was he right!”
