Animation vet takes on expanded role

Starz-owned Film Roman has named Dana Booton to the newly created position of general manager and head of production.

A 20-year animation production vet, Booton has most recently been Film Roman’s production VP, serving as exec in charge of its Marvel Entertainment projects, including “Ultimate Spider-Man” and “The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”

She came to Film Roman after spending six years with Studio NM8, which she founded in 2002.

“Dana has a proven track record of success and accomplishment in her time at Film Roman and the animation business during her career,” Starz prexy/CEO Chris Albrecht said.

“Her credentials in traditional and CG animation will ensure that Film Roman continues the quality work and reputation it so richly deserves and remain at the forefront of securing new opportunities as the market for animated programming grows and evolves.”

At Saban Entertainment (later sold to Fox Family Worldwide) in the 1990s, Booton helped create an animation studio that was pioneering in 2D and 3D projects.
